Install and use the Trezi plugin for Revit

Trezi supports loading Revit models through the Trezi plugin for Revit.

Requirements

Trezi plugin for Revit currently supports Revit 2019 and Revit 2020 only.
Please note that Trezi needs a functional installation of Revit on the system for the Trezi plugin to work - Revit needs to be installed before the Trezi plugin.
Once a Revit file has been converted to Trezi format, then this converted file can be used in any system with active Trezi installation (Revit is no longer required)

Installing the Trezi plugin for Revit

  1. Go to the Trezi tab in Trezi launcher - it is the second tab from the top

  2. Click the install plugin button under Trezi plugin for Revit section

  3. To verify that the plugin is installed properly, open any Revit file and go to the Add-Ins tab. If you see a button with the Trezi logo labeled "View in Trezi" under Trezi section,  you are all set. You can now proceed to the next section.



  4. In case you don't see the the button on the Add-Ins tab, follow the following steps:

    • Go to this path:
      • In Revit 2019: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2019
      • In Revit 2020: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2020

    • Verify if these files are present there: RevitToTrezParser.addin, RevitToTrezParser.dll, zip.dll and TreziSceneGraphSDK.dll

    • If they are not present, try reinstalling the Trezi plugin from step 2

Manual installation of Trezi plugin for Revit

If you need to install Trezi plugin for Revit on a system that does not have Trezi installed or the standard installation procedure does not work, you can follow these steps to install the plugin manually:
  1. Download the plugin installation package from here:
  1. Extract the contents of the downloaded compressed file (you can use a free tool like 7-zip for extraction)
  2. Copy the contents of the Revit folder to your Revit plugins folder:
    1. For Revit 2019, copy the files to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2019
    2. For Revit 2020, copy the files to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2020
  3. Restart Revit now and the Trezi plugin for Revit should now be available to use.

Using the Trezi plugin for Revit

  • Open any Revit file, and under the Project Browser select any 3D view from under 3D views section



  • Press the "View in Trezi" button on the Add-Ins toolbar.
  • After processing the model (the processing time will depend on the size and the complexity of the model), Trezi generates a .tzi file that has the 3D model data in Trezi's internal format at the same location of the source Revit file. This .tzi file can be used in Trezi even on systems that don't have Revit installed.
  • Once the .tzi file is generated you'll get a popup asking if you want to launch the model in Trezi



  • If you want to just share the .tzi file with others, click No and you can find the .tzi in the path shown (in the same path as original Revit file). This .tzi file can be use in Trezi application similar to a SketchUp or FBX file
