Use Trezi in desktop mode

Use Trezi in desktop mode

Trezi, as of version 1.5, supports starting Trezi viewer in desktop mode along with the conventional VR mode. If you have the VR hardware connected and set-up, you can switch between VR and desktop mode at any time after starting the Trezi viewer.

Please note that the Desktop mode for Trezi viewer is an alpha right now - there are known bugs and issues in the present release. Please let us know your feedback on it.

Starting Trezi viewer in desktop mode

  • To start Trezi in desktop mode, follow the steps as usual to create a new project. After the model processing is done, you'll see buttons that let you define the starting mode for Trezi viewer. Click the 'Launch in Desktop' button to start Trezi viewer in desktop mode.

  • If you are opening an existing project from the 'Recent projects' tab, click on the 'Launch" button and from the drop down that appears, select 'in Desktop'.

Switching between desktop and VR mode

You can go the View menu and select 'Switch to Desktop' if you are in VR mode. Similarly, if you are Desktop mode, you can switch to VR mode by selecting 'Switch to VR' from the View menu.

Navigating the desktop mode UI

  • The desktop mode UI has the same UI layout and organization as the VR mode. The top level menus (File, Edit, View etc.) are available on the top level menu bar and clicking them will open the options contained within them.
  • Once a UI window is opened, you can move it around the screen by clicking and dragging on the blue title bar of the UI window. You can close the UI windows by clicking the close button at the right end of the title bar.
  • Selection of objects works by clicking on an object - the object properties window will open when you select an object. The rest of the UI and interaction behavior is just like the VR mode.
