Setting up HTC Vive for Trezi
Getting ready
Before you get started, make sure you have a few things in place first:
- A PC that is capable of running VR
- Update the GPU drivers to the latest version
Setting up hardware
HTC Vive can be installed in two configurations: room scale and standing.
- For room scale you need a minimum of 2 m x 1.5 m (6.5 ft x 5 ft) of floor space. Make sure that your VR area is clear of furniture and pets.
- Standing setup are recommended if you don't have enough clear floor space or if you wish to use it on your desk. Trezi provides the ability to teleport around the scene, so you don't lose anything with standing setup.

Setting up software
Once the hardware is all setup, you can proceed to install the required software for VR.
You'll need internet connectivity and installation rights on your windows system for this part
- Install Steam that's required to install SteamVR
- Once Steam is downloaded and installed, sign-in to it. Create a free account if you don't have one.
- Once you are signed in and have the hardware connected, Steam will detect it and prompt you to install SteamVR. Follow the on-screen instructions to continue. If you do not get the prompt to install SteamVR, got the next step to install it manually.
- Navigate to the LIBRARY tab, then select TOOLS from the drop down menu that appears.
- Scroll down to SteamVR and double click on it to start the installation process
- Once SteamVR installation is complete, the last step is to do Room Setup. You can run Room Setup by clicking on the SteamVR menu and selecting Run Room Setup.
- To run SteamVR in the future, open Steam and click on the VR button at the top right corner of the Steam interface.
Installation of HTC Vive software is optional, Trezi needs just SteamVR to work.
Setting up SteamVR resolution manual override
Recent builds of SteamVR introduced a feature that automatically sets render resolution based on your installed GPU. While this works good for games, this can have a negative impact on Trezi's performance. To disable this, follow these steps:
- Open SteamVR menu and select settings
- Go to the Video tab, enable Manual Override and move the slider underneath it to 100%. You can now close the settings window.
