Load a SketchUp model in Trezi

Load a SketchUp model in Trezi

Preparing the model

  • Make sure that the SketchUp file is built to real-world scale. Trezi will render the models in VR as per the scale set in the source file.
  • Assign proper names to the materials used. This step, while optional, will greatly help you in identifying and working with materials inside VR.

Loading the model

  • Start Trezi launcher and login with your account. If you have not installed Trezi on your PC yet, follow these instructions.
  • Go to the Trezi tab (second from the top on the left sidebar) to make sure that Trezi is installed and updated. Download or update Trezi if you need to at this stage. If everything is all good, you'll see the START button.
  • Click the START button, this will take you to the Projects tab. The Projects tab lets you create new and visit recently created projects.
  • Go to the 'Create new' tab

  • You need to specify a few things here
    • Under 'Workspace name' section define a name for your project. This step is necessary.
    • Use the 'BROWSE' button next to 'Select the model to load' section to browse and select the SketchUp model you want to load
    • The last section can be used to point to a local folder that contains FBX or SketchUp models that you can add later to your scene in VR. This step is optional.
  • When ready, press the 'Start processing' button. Trezi will now start processing your model for VR. Once the processing is complete, you will get options to launch the model in Desktop or in VR.

  • Based on the mode (Desktop/VR) selected, the model starts loading and following screen is displayed

  • Depending on the size and complexity of the source SketchUp file, it can take anywhere between a few seconds to a few minutes to process your model.
  • Once Trezi is done processing your model you can view and interact with your model in VR/Desktop mode. You can now put on your VR headset and proceed in VR.
