Change the material of an object

Change the material of an object

Select the object to modify

  • Select and object. You'll see the object properties window.
  • Navigate to the component in the tree structure that you wish to change the material for in the hierarchy tab. This is important - you'll see the materials to modify of the component that you have selected in the hierarchy tab.

Changing the material

  • Go to the materials tab - the last tab on the right side.
  • Click on the material thumbnail icon next to the material name that you wish to change

Choosing a replacement material

  • Select the material source from the Material source section - scene materials (materials from the source model) or Local library (Trezi materials)
  • Browse to the category and select a thumbnail to preview that material on the selected object
  • Hit the 'Accept' button when you are happy with your changes or click 'Cancel' to discard the changes.
  • You can use the 'Reset' button to revert the materials to the scene default materials.

Material operations on object instances

Please note that instance operations only work on files exported from Revit using the latest version of Trezi for Revit plugin right now - we'll add support for other CAD tools in the coming release.

  • If your scene has objects that are instances or each other, you can apply your material changes to the rest of the instances in the scene.
  • Hit the 'Apply to family' button to apply the materials from the selected instance to the rest of the instances in the scene.
